Backup of David's Livejournal

Conveniently Available

An Inconvenient Truth is available for rent starting tomorrow.  It's buried under some more popular titles, but I think we should rent it, watch it, and discuss.

I haven't seen it yet, but I've got a feeling it's going to touch on a pet peeve of mine.  (The media's penchant to present two sides to every issue.)  I get it.  I understand it.  I just want everyone (translate: my kids) to get it, too.

Wow that was fast. The movie hasn't been out that long has it? I too hate how the media will present both sides of an argument, no matter how baseless one side's case might be. But I expect this movie to fall heavily on the "global warming is real" side, no? Or are you talking about the reaction to the movie?

Yep, the subject would be "global warming is real" but a premise of his argument is that we've been presented with baseless viewpoints for the sake of interesting controversy (from the perspective of the media) from parties with a vested interest in the baseless viewpoint. I'd like to see how he presents that.

Ahhh, yes, I understand. Just added it to my Netflix queue.

I too share this pet peeve. Oh boy, do I.
