Here I've been working in the video editing business for more than a decade. I know my stuff. I'm a god damned expert.
Today, just a few minutes ago, while reading Jerry Lewis explain the origin of the phrase "polishing a turd", I came to a part where he said, "as we say in the business, to cut to the chase..."

It's a video editing phrase! Cut to the chase sequences! My whole life, I thought "chase" was some other term, metal-working, or anatomical, as in "cut to the quick."
