Morning Musume vs. The Peanuts

We're going on vacation for the week. And guess which videos I've packed for the kids?

Here's the original version of Mothra's song, vs. the crazy new-fangled Morning Musume version.

See you all in a week! (I won't be accessing the Web.)
*Twitter readers will recognize where the Gamera vs. Godzilla tweet came from, now.

[Edit] The author regrets omitting a link to this most excellent Mothra Song Alarm Clock.

Aw, shucks. Also, as mentioned to davidd in a comment below, this is only a part of an educational series that could very well have been offered at Celanic.

I completely concur: YOU. SO. ROCK! Exotica music and beautiful Japanese girls. It doesn't get any better than this, no matter what kind of beer you're drinking! (The videos are for the kids, huh?) Have a great week!

::digs toe around in the dirt:: Aww, thanks. It's a part of the Continuua Educational Series. Star Trek and Star Wars? Different continuua kids. Godzilla and Gamera? Also, sadly, different continuua. But no worries: That's what fanfic is for!

I keep thinking about these two videos. Err... in an academic sense, of course. The Morning Musume version has the advantage of... how can I say this without sounding prurient? I can't, so... MM has the advantage of skimpier outfits, but The Original Version has jeeps flying through the air! Trapped as I am in eternal early adolescence... I can't pick a favorite! Which means, I suppose, I'll just have to keep replaying both versions! I am working with a generation of students who have never heard of Star Trek. This is requiring greater adaptability on my part than I am readily equipped to handle.

As much as I do enjoy the YouTube videos, I want it to be clear that those were teaser videos for the actual Kaiju movies I brought along for the kids. We're watching the full length Godzilla films. It does please me no end that the current generation Godzilla films are nearly as silly and fun as the original!

I thought you were off-line for the week? I need some clarification here: I know there are new Big-G films out there; I've seen a few and agree that they are highly entertaining. But... the Morning Musume version of Mothra... is that from a film?! I was thinking it was a MM kaiju-themed dance routine! If it's a full-length Mothra film with those girls in it, it's a serious must-see! (Google search for mothra musume lists this post in the Number Three position, BTW.) Ah, Wikipedia! The Millennium Series:
Godzilla 2000 " Godzilla vs. Megaguirus " Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack " Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla " Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S. " Godzilla: Final Wars

You got it! And I don't think those particular girls are really Morning Musume girls, but it was fun to refer to them as such. They just seem MMish, y'know?

Some comments on a discussion board I discovered during my research, which may have been tongue-in-cheek, suggested at least one of the girls may have been "first generation MM." So others noticed the similarity/possibility. Oh, and, the "alarm clock" video is practically perfect in every way. Cute, kitsch, kaiju, and... ya know.
