Shake, rattle and roll!

Well, that was fun!  The epicenter was 7 miles from here.

roller or shaker?

I'm a California native, and have been through a good handful of earthquakes. I gotta admit that this one felt bigger than it was. Maybe that's because we were close, and it ended with a lot of rolling, which made me think it was far away. But it started with some good shaking. It's just the the rolling seemed to last for so long. We had some pictures fall, and everybody got a good scare. We all cowered under a door frame together.

:: nods knowingly :: That's why I asked. We had one up here about a year or two ago --- yours sounds very similar. Usually I am pretty level-headed in an earthquake (making sure my ducks are all in a row), but up until know they had been mostly shakers. During the last one (a shake and roller), I could actually feel the earth undulating beneath me, I hung on to a center beam of the house and closed my eyes. And the rolling really does seem to go on and on. Deeply unsettling.
