I disagree about being "less interested in content not available for streaming." My feelings go with the red graphic "The Netflix Problem" he posted. I'm too often not interested in what is available for streaming.

I like this quote:

"Also: All of these companies need to get their collective act together when it comes to Canada. This region-locking and licensing nonsense is more obsolete than dinosaurs." -- Shamus Young

The Problem With Netflix - Twenty Sided

Don't get me started. A LOT of people really want to like Netflix here, but the available content is a pale shadow of what's in the US. Of course, bittorrent has no such problem.

It doesn't help that good content is getting pulled out regularly. I'm getting really sick of content owners being unwilling to make money off of their content for whatever technophobic hangups they have.

I thought that was a typo. I thought he meant to say there isn't much interesting available for streaming but I could be wrong. Agree with you.

You are such a Canada fan-boy! Seriously, if you want I'll marry you for the green card (which in Canada is red and has leafs on it and a polar bear doing a dance by a boat and the whole thing is made out of syrup and ice cream!).

Elliott Noel on Nov 2, 2011
...the f**k, ken?

+Ken Roland, ignore +Elliott Noel. He doesn't know what it's like to be so disenfranchised from one's own country. After we're married, would we have to live together to keep up the pretenses for the Canadian government? Because I have to live in Vancouver. I'm going to be in the movie business!

[Edit] And before Elliott sends it to me: Here, I'll send it to myself: http://www.cracked.com/article_19363_6-reasons-your-plans-to-move-abroad-might-not-work-out.html

If you move to vancouver, I'll enjoy listening to you constantly complain about the rain during winter.

David Blume on Nov 3, 2011
What, rain? Whoa. I don't do precipitation. You can't drive in rain, right? We can't.

Elliott Noel on Nov 3, 2011
Vancouverites can. Watch out when it snows, though. That half a cm really screws with them.
What's that? Yes, "cm". You'll have to get used to that too. :)

The intersection is significantly larger for those of us who don't have cable/sat but who like to watch the occasional broadcast content. I suspect that TV show contracts are much more friendly to rebroadcast (aka, streaming) than movie contracts.

Ken Roland on Nov 3, 2011
+David Blume Canada is very lenient about spouses living together, but only if they like different hockey teams. So when you come, just say "Go Canucks" and you will be sent to Vancouver automatically. Since I'm a Leafs fan, we will never be expected to speak or come in contact again except to fight.

And I agree with Ian. Television is something that has already made it's money on first run and probably does well from rebroadcasting through whatever means. The problem will be when no one watches the initial run anymore and just waits for it to come out on NetFlix or what have you.
