"Mommy, Dad played video games until 11:00pm!"

That was my 9yo son trying to tell on me and get me in trouble.  I had to clarify things for him.  No, son, you're off by 5 hours.  What's 11:00pm plus five hours?

He thinks about it.  4:00am?  You played games until 4:00am?  You played games for over five hours?

So I explain to him, "No, I watched a little Dexter.  I balanced the bank statements.  And I only played video games from 1:00am to 4:00am."

Wait.  Did I just momentarily think I was setting a good example by telling my son I played video games from 1:00am to 4:00am?

Of course you set a good example. Kid 's got to learn that he's got to do the important stuf first and have fun later. So perfect example ....

I think ...

You taught him to, uh, seek clarification and not make assumptions.

Ahem, the good example was choosing a weekend night instead of a school/work night?  ;-)
