Hey! I know what that is!
Wired magazine has recently been redesigned. It's still got major sections like Start, Play and Test, each with numerous articles, but each page has a funny graphic on it. It's a long rectangle, with a series of muted rectangles inside, with one a different vivid color. Typical useless artsy gimick.
But on every page, the one little vivid rectangle was in a different relative location.
On consecutive pages, it migrated from one end of the long rectangle to the other end.
It was a progress meter! A progress meter for that particular section! It was useful!
