Backup of David's Livejournal

That's what those are!

We were waiting in line at the drugstore, and I was looking at the odd selection of DVDs and CDs under the counter.  Then I saw something and realized what it was.

It's quite possible that today is the first day I realized what those three glyphs are, on the cover of the Police's Ghost in the Machine album.

Seriously.  For years, nay, decades, I thought they were abstract retrotechnokanji.  I can be so blind.

That is startling to hear about someone who is so attuned to visual detail. Maybe your brain over-processed it.

Why, hello Anonymous. (We know who you are.) Yep. I remember looking for symmetry across the three glyphs with regard to the individual LED elements. (Most of them do repeat, but a few didn't.) I kept wondering, "Why don't those few repeat? Can that position never represent the same characters?"
