VideoSpin

It's only our first beta of the product, but I'm pretty excited by VideoSpin.  It's a free video editor.  As a developer, it's hard to release a product, I want to wait until it's perfect, but I also want to share what I have.

I hope that VideoSpin is good enough that it'll grow into an awesome free video editor.  This is our first attempt, and I think we're on the right path.  (I hope so.)  We're certainly listening to feedback.

I wrote a small tutorial on how to make an AMV with VideoSpin over at my site.

[Edit]  Ha, ha!  My little site looks slightly wrong in IE, and the official site looks slightly wrong in FireFox!  It just goes to show you where we do most of our browsing.

Yay! Congratulations! XD Do you think it's ready for me to send up as a potential article? I have to make sure my editor approves, of course!

^_^; Yeah, if your editor approves, you're basically breaking the story. We're releasing this new product without a lot of hoopla, so that we can take in feedback and hopefully make the application better by the time a huge audience gets exposed to it. We know it's not perfect, but we need you (everybody) to help us make something that you can use. These early days of a consumer release are scary! Narilka has probably heard horror stories from Microsoft about what can go wrong with releases like this. Put a complex program on a few thousand systems, and some of them are bound to behave oddly.

Oh . . . exciting. Congratulations . . . we look forward to playing with it this weekend.

It's only for PC? You guys suck, dude! (I'll try it out on the PC this upcoming weekend. Yes, there's a PC in the house; its only saving grace is DVD-Shrink... another sucky company that only releases programs for PCs. But... whattaya expect from freeware developers?)

PS: you work for AVID? That is so cool!

Yeah. I've made video editing easter eggs for the Macintosh, too.

Thanks. Be honest, yet gentle. ^_^;

Hey, this looks pretty cool! I've got a ton of video stuff I should get around to doing one of these days and since it's a long weekend... Think I'll be playing around with your new product. :)

I appreciate your bravery, testing a first beta release! The good news is that your feedback will be heard more clearly, since you're in early. Also, and I'm dead serious about this: If it crashes on you, put {myuserid}@pinnaclesys.com in the feedback, and I have a little script that'll email me your crash, and I'll see if I can detect and fix the problem.

::reads my own reply:: Erm, that came out wrong. What I mean, is if you want me to investigate the crash, there's a way to direct it to me. If you choose to. Geeze. I didn't mean for it to sound like I was demanding crashdumps.

Looks very interesting. Will try to give it a try. Love that Maddy pic!
